Loading page contentThe Department of Hydropower Development was restructured under DHPD 2.0, approved on 13th May 2025 and formally unveiled on 13th November 2025. The department is now organized into five basin-wise Chief Engineer zones, enabling closer project monitoring and decentralised decision-making across Arunachal Pradesh.
Office: O/o The Chief Engineer, Siang Basin, GTC, Pasighat
The Siang Basin zone oversees all hydropower projects along the Siang River and its tributaries. The zone is headed by a Chief Engineer and comprises Senior State Works Officers (SSWs), Superintending Engineers (SEs), and multiple project Divisions.
The Dibang-Lohit-Tirap zone covers the eastern river systems of Arunachal Pradesh — the Dibang, Lohit, and Tirap rivers. Headed by a Chief Engineer with SSWs, SEs, and Divisions for project-level management.
The Subansiri Basin zone manages projects on the Subansiri River and its tributaries. The zone operates under a Chief Engineer supported by SSWs, SEs, and field Divisions.
The Kameng Basin zone is responsible for hydropower development along the Kameng River system in western Arunachal Pradesh. Headed by a Chief Engineer with the standard SSW → SE → Division hierarchy.
The P&D and Coordination zone handles departmental planning, project design, inter-agency coordination, and cross-basin policy matters. This zone supports all four basin zones with technical design and administrative coordination.
